Welcome to our cozy corner of Britain, where good food and friendly faces come together. We are Paris & Ben, the heart and soul behind this independent eatery The Royal Oak offering home cooked food with daily specials in a relaxed environment.
Ben
Ben's journey in the kitchen began 15 years ago as a pot washer. With a passion for hot, flavorful dishes, he worked his way up to become a chef with McMullen's, eventually taking over The Royal Oak. At one point, Ben decided to pursue a degree in Sport Therapy at university. During his studies, he worked as a bartender for Toby Carvery, gaining experience on both sides of the counter. His love for cooking brought him back to the kitchen, where he won Fish Chef of the Year in 2020. Ben is all about making sure every meal is delicious and satisfying.
Paris
Paris has a diverse background in hospitality which was inspired by her father's encouragement. Starting from her culinary training in college, she explored diverse roles, from Marriott Hotels and London's vibrant food scene at a private members' club, soaking up the essence of the industry. She then transitioned to front-of-house roles within McMullen's, excelling in various pubs. Paris was recognised as one of the top 5 Bar Persons of the Year. Paris now enjoys life at the front of the house, delighting guests and keeping them entertained with her infectious energy and warm hospitality.
US
In 2019, Paris and Ben's paths converged at McMullen's, where they soaked up invaluable experience. Fast forward to 2023, feeling ready and inspired, they decided to embark on their journey to run their own pub. The Royal Oak in Carlton caught their eye and stole their hearts, especially with its inviting garden. With a shared passion for excellent food and service, they're set to preserve the cherished atmosphere of The Royal Oak, infusing it with their own brand of good vibes and family-friendly charm, ensuring it remains a beloved community hub for all to enjoy.
